I hope you had a fantastic New Year’s Eve and I wish you all a very happy New Year! May 2018 bring you health, happiness and peace of mind!
So, 2018 is starting today. Do you know how to say 2018 in English and in French? You have three options in English but only one in French.
In English, you can say:
- Twenty – eighteen
- Two thousand eighteen
- Two thousand and eighteen
The last one is a common way to say the years since the year 2000. It is a bit surprising because you don’t normally use the link word “and” after the word thousand. You usually use it only after the word “hundred”, but it seems this way to say the years has become extremely widespread, so you can use this option as often as you like!
In French, you will have no choice but to say:
- Deux mille dix-huit
When a new year begins, a lot of people take the opportunity to make New Year’s resolutions. What are yours?
